Janet Adkins, executive director at Stoney Brook Assisted Living Center, was the guest speaker at the Star Group-Veterans Helping Veterans May meeting Saturday, May 4, 2013 in Copperas Cove.
“This place competes with any of the better hotels in the area,” said President Jonathan Haywood as he introduced Adkins. “If you can find a place that provides better service in assisted living, I’ll treat you to dinner.”
Stoney Brook provides assisted living to residents who have completed rehab and are not ready to return home.
“We have one of the 33 executive chefs, Will Tower, also a military veteran on staff, to prepare meals for our residents.” Adkins said.
Stoney Brook partners with Star Group-Veterans Helping Veterans to help veterans with issues they may have while staying at the facility.
“We are typically a partner in care with organizations within the medical field, which provide our residents with their recovery needs,” Adkins said. “The facility houses 60 residents
Residents can stay longer based upon certain criteria. Adkins said volunteers are always needed at Stoney Brook.
