(March 6, 2013)--Central Texas Veterans Health Care System celebrated the placement of its first veteran into a medical foster home.
The Medical Foster Home program allows veterans who are otherwise unable to live alone the option of 24-hour care, meals, medication management, transportation and a cost effective alternative to living in a nursing home. Veterans enrolled in the program will have their own room in the house shared by the caregiver and will pay an average of $1,500 to $3,000 a month, depending on their level of needed care. Medical Foster Home caregivers must pass an FBI background check, annual inspections, be CPR and first aid certified, at least 21 years or older, live in the home and be physically able to provide needed care to the veterans.
Star Group- Veterans Helping Veterans would like to send a special thanks to Ms. Tiffany Love (foster home coordinator with the Department of Veterans Affairs) for allowing our organization to be apart of such a great event. SG-VHV was proud to attend and support the Central Texas Veterans Health Care System in this wonderful endeavor.
Thanks to the SG-VHV Members who also attended in support of our organization Ms. Karen Powell, Ms. Denise Davis, Ms. Marilynn Monroe and Ms. Regina Wesson.
