SG-VHV 2016 Thanksgiving Bag Giveaway - Another Success and we are Thankful to be able to put a smile on the faces of many and food on their tables.

Star Group Veterans Helping Veterans had their annual Thanksgiving Bag Giveaway on  Saturday, Nov 19, 2016

The 375 bags were loaded with everything needed to make a Thanksgiving meal including the turkey for Families who otherwise might not have the traditional holiday meal.

Copperas Cove mayor Frank Seffrood as well as Copperas Cove and Killeen city council members joined representatives from state government offices, Cove ISD Superintendent Dr. Joe Burns, KISD Superintendent Dr John Craft, several SG-VHV Premier Sponsors and plenty of volunteers were at the SG-VHV office in Copperas Cove to hand out the bags. 

“We’re going to touch some lives and we’re going to cross county & city lines,” SG-VHV President Jonathan Haywood said to the group. “Thank you for all you do in our community as our leaders and sponsors, which enables us to do what we do to tell people we love them at this special time of the year. He also thanked all of the SG-VHV members for their donations and time. A special thanks was given to Fort Hood Area Association of Realtors who also partnered with us last year and increased their donation 80 turkeys and John Valentine owner of Operation Phantom Support for assisting with donation of some can goods. 

 

Bags were given to Copperas Cove, Killeen, Harker Heights and Nolanville school districts for families in the HARP and other programs.  Other bags went to Women, Infants and Children programs, Fort Hood junior soldiers, DAV Chapter 29, AFGE Union, HH Vet Center, Cove Soup Kitchen and Bring Everyone in the Zone. 

Mr Haywood handed the first bag to Dr Burns who handed it over to Dr as a symbol that while the nonprofit organization behind the meals may be located in Copperas Cove, caring for those in need has no boundaries. place to live.
