An annual event on the Star Group Veterans Helping Veterans calendar is the Copperas Cove Relay for Life which was held on April 30, 2016.

Mr John Cook and Ms Joannie Shedrick head up this event. Mr Joe Hill also assisted by attending meetings and helping when the others were unavailable. SGVHV  has several members and/or their family members who have been effected by Cancer. This is our way of honoring and offering support to the survivors, caregivers and those who lost their life journey to cancer. We make an annual contribution of at least $1000 in support of this cause.

The venue for Cove’s Relay For Life had a last-minute venue change, to Williams/Ledger Elementary School from Hanke Stadium at S.C. Lee Junior High School, because stormy weather left the track unusable. But that didn’t deter John Cook, the Relay for Life Leader of the Star Group Veterans Helping Veterans team and other participants from being gung-ho about walking for a cause.  Walkers used a trail inside the elementary school that snaked around the perimeter of the cafetorium and onto the stage and into the gym. Relay For Life tents were set up all over. Many walkers donned anticipated athletic apparel, though some chose to wear tutus and still others carried signs or props that signified in word or symbol their fight against cancer. The event began at 3 p.m. Saturday April 30th and lasted until early Sunday morning.

Mandy Oster, event lead for the Relay For Life in Cove, said 18 teams and over 200 people participated. The event gained more than $34,000.  Relay For Life is a fundraising event of the American Cancer Society, and the website for the local event stated Relay For Life “unites communities across the globe to celebrate people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and take action to finish the fight once and for all.”  The Event had several performers including the Copperas Cove High School cheerleaders, Mr. P Hypno, a hypnotist and Belly dancers.

Hi there! Quick question that's totally off topic. Do you know how to make your site
mobile friendly? My weblog looks weird when browsing
from my iphone4. I'm trying to find a theme or plugin that might be able to resolve this issue.
If you have any recommendations, please share. Many thanks!
